Inflammation
Cellzome is building a » pipeline of proprietary small molecule therapeutics targeting inflammatory diseases.
Inflammatory diseases exhibit a diverse range of conditions, but all share a common feature - a disregulated, mostly overreacting immune response affecting a wide variety of organs - ranging from the respiratory system (asthma or allergic rhinitis), to the destruction of joints (rheumatoid arthritis) or failure of vital organs (systemic lupus erythematosus). The overall size of the market for inflammatory and auto-immune diseases is growing due to an increase in the prevalence of these diseases in ageing populations.
A large fraction of patients either do not respond to current therapies or make an inadequate response to affect their disease. Thus, there is a significant opportunity for new mechanisms of action and also for oral therapies.
We are applying » Kinobeads™ to the discovery and development of novel, selective
» inflammatory kinase inhibitors, acting on distinct targets (» PI3Kγ, » PI3Kδ, » mTor, » Zap-70 and » JAK3) in particular conformations, which represent key mediators in immune receptor signalling and chemotaxis. We have also developed a series of antagonists for the » Histamine H4 receptor initially targeting allergic rhinitis and asthma.
